I am a tutor with extensive experience teaching at the high school level. I am in the process of completing a bachelor's degree in Biology at the University of California, Santa Barbara with an expected graduate date of June 2016. I have the ability to teach chemistry, American History, and biology, all at an AP level. While I have the experience to teach a wide variety of subjects, such as biology and the Math section of the SAT, I am the most passionate about teaching American History and the science section of the ACT.My philosophy as a tutor is to help students prepare by continuously practicing questions about their specific area of study. Reviewing over an extended period of time is much more beneficial than only reviewing the subject matter immediately before an exam. In my opinion, the purpose of learning is to remember material long-term. Reviewing material for the sole purpose of passing an exam does not help achieve this goal. Outside of school, I like to travel internationally, bike, read speculative fiction, listen to music, and play my viola in quartets. I am also very passionate about learning. I especially like learning about current science and technology.
